PARTICIPATE IN A STUDY
The Sports Medicine & Movement Lab is always conducting data analysis. Below is a brief overview of some of the projects.
If you are interested in any or all projects, please email Gretchen Oliver, Ph.D.
BASEBALL PITCHING & LOWER EXTREMITY INVOLVEMENT
The Sports Medicine & Movement Lab is currently recruiting youth and young adult baseball pitchers (9-25 years) who are free from surgery for the past 6 months. Study participation will take approximately 1 hour and all participants will receive a performance report post-participation. If you are interested in participating please email Gretchen Oliver, Ph.D.
FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ASSESSMENT
The Sports Medicine & Movement Lab is currently recruiting youth and young adult athletes, of any level, to participate in a functional movement study. Athletes must be younger than 30, and free of concussion for the past 3 months. Study participation will take approximately 1 hour and athletes will receive a performance report post participation. If you are interested in participating please email Gretchen Oliver, Ph.D.
WEIGHTED BALL STUDY RECRUITMENT
The Sports Medicine and Movement Lab is currently recruiting baseball pitchers of all ages and ability levels who are free from injury for the past 6 months and have no prior history of surgery to their throwing arm to participate in our weighted baseball pitching study. Basic requirements would be to throw a minimum of 5 pitches with 5 different ball weights (3oz, 4oz, 5oz, 6oz, and 7oz) for a total of 25 pitches while hooked up to our motion capture system. Participants will also have their hip and shoulder strength and range of motion tested. Total participant time commitment should range from 60 to 90 minutes. If you or someone you know may be interested, please email Gretchen Oliver, Ph.D.
SPORTS SPECIALIZATION STUDY RECRUITMENT
We are currently conducting research looking at the effects of sports specialization. This is a great way for anyone to participate in the lab and get a small feel for the research we do! Please complete this Qualtrics survey at your convenience if you are interested in getting involved or learning more.
RANGE OF MOTION & PRE-THROWING PROGRAM
The Sports Medicine & Movement Lab is currently recruiting high school aged baseball teams to participant in a study tracking shoulder and hip range of motion pre and post a competitive season. Teams will be randomly assigned to a pre-throwing treatment group or a control group. All participating teams will receive a customized training protocol at the completion of the study. Training protocols will be developed based on the results of the study specialized to individual team results. If interested or have further questions, please email Gretchen Oliver, Ph.D.
